Given the daily overproduction of user generated content and the continuous political solicitation to which we are subjected, it’s ever more difficult to make sense of the sheer number of objects circulating on the internet. Finally some order is restored.
Les Liens Invisibles is very proud to announce its contribution to the Museum of Ordure with a new website that invites contributions in all aspects of ordure.
Ordure is defined as “dirt: dung: excrement: anything unclean (fig).– adj. ordurous. (Fr.,–O. ord, foul–L. horridus, rough.)” There are categories of ordure which are common, shit for example.
The subject proliferates: What are the parameters of ordure? And what is virtual ordure?

BACKGROUND TO THE MUSEUM
The Museum of Ordure explores the cultural value of ordure through its projects and ongoing public collections. It takes inspiration from Dominique Laporte’s “History of Shit” (first published in French in 1978), to verify that modern power is founded on conditions for the management of human waste. Laporte insists that in parallel to the cleansing of the streets of Paris from shit, the French language was similarly cleansed of Latin words to establish official French without “foreign leanings” (according to an edict of 1539). Thus language was purged of its “lingering stink” to become purer and invested with authority. Can the same can be said of the technologies that are now found on the streets (installed in mobile devices and such-like), that they are purged of their stink too? This is the Apple paradigm of software development with specially conceived proprietary “apps” (for iPhones and iPads) that close off users from the underlying stink of code. If the health of the (social) body can be detected in the examination of its shit, then current mismanagement is clear for all to see in the vile products that proliferate.

THE ONGOING ORDURE COLLECTION
See the growing collection of ordure at http://www.ordure.org/collection/ and share with us #ordure content on Twitter.
Actually at the moment Twitter has suspended the @museumofordure account, confirming the status of its tweets as ordure; despite this, ordure continues to circulate and results for #ordure can be found at http://twitter.com/#!/search/%23ordure.

The Museum is also currently showing some objects from its collection as part of the Museum Show at Arnolfini, Bristol, UK (Sept-Nov 2011). See http://www.arnolfini.org.uk/whatson/exhibitions/details/1076

The Invisible Pavilion is an uninvited, experimental, hallucinatory augmented reality experience that will function for the duration of the Venice Art Biennale as a squatted stage on which a performative flow of digital-based works of art will fill the whole area of the Giardini.

The main purpose of the project is to fill the augmented space of the Biennal with a stream of signs and symbols,in an attempt to emphasize the flowing condition of producing art in the “always-on” age.

All the people with a smart-phone (iPhone or any other Android-based phone) in the area of the Giardini in the Biennale, will be able to move around the traditional pavilions and watch through the phone screens to another immaterial/invisible exhibition using the popular app Layar.

During the period of Venice Art Biennale (June – November 2011) a group of selected international artists have been invited to give their personal contribute to the project, performatively contribute posting multimedia pieces that should reinterpret somehow the public space of the Biennale and its symbolic aura in the field of contemporary art. The art pieces will be visible also on the Internet on the Invisible Pavilion website.

As Simona Lodi says in the curatorial text, “The Invisible Pavilion is a hallucinatory experience of rewriting the world, an encouragement to increase the whirl and flow of information on invisible r/Reality. The Invisible Pavilion contains a r/Reality that is open and spontaneous, drawn and analysed from shared data. The double r reflects its double connotation—the lower case r refers to the everyday reality that we all know; the upper case R to a proprietary name, the augmented Reality that is produced.“

“Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed” (John 20:29)

April 24, 2011

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

THE APPARITION OF THE UNICORN
PINK AND INVISIBLE AT THE SAME TIME

According to Steve Eley « Invisible Pink Unicorns are beings of great spiritual power. We know this because they are capable of being invisible and pink at the same time.» These legendary figures appeared in the Internet legends of the early 90’s but for what is known, this is the first time an invisible pink unicorn has been seen in public.
Like in a collective mystic vision, this night, at the midnight of the Easter day, the magnificent figure of a great pink unicorn appears in St. Peter’s Square of Rome, suspended in air over the Vatican Obelisk, surrounded by devoted believers, pilgrims and tourists of any sort.
As far as it’s universally recognized that Easter transcends it’s meaning in other monotheistic religions as a “pass over” moment, even the Invisible Pink Unicorn manifested itself and personified a new crucial moment, opening a new shining season for collective visions and joyful hallucinations.

THE UBIQUITOUS MONUMENT
AN ETERNAL RESHAPE OF THE ETERNAL CITY

This time no one has to die or resurrect to declare a new amazing religion: the mysterious pink flying unicorn is just the latest imaginary intervention by the artists duo Les Liens Invisibles in collaboration with KoOk Artgency of Rome.
A Monument to the Invisible Pink Unicorn – which is a work and symbol of atheism, fervid imagination and hope – has been permanently placed in the middle of the square and all the passersby can now admire it through the comfortable viewer of their smart-phones freely installing the popular Layar AR application.
According to the authors the Invisible Unicorn is not a joke and it won’t be removed it from its current position. The virtual sculpture is “real”, (in)visible and it has to be taken into serious consideration: it is the way a recontextualized symbol can alter, challenge and reshape the perception of a public space – especially a very closed and symbolic one like the St. Peter’s Square in Rome.

BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO HAVE NOT SEEN
AND YET HAVE BELIEVED

Are you ready to start a new pilgrimage to the Holy See, now even more holy than ever?
The ubiquitous, pink and invisible, virtual monument is currently exhibited both in the augmented space of the famous Vatican Square and in the immaterial space of an Internet domain.
The Invisible Pink Unicorn is waiting for you. Don’t miss the call!

Discover how to set up the most radical street demonstrations and take part in them without any of the annoying risks.

Created in the cultural background of the so called Twitter Revolutions Tweet4Action injects the fervor into your tweety riots by mixing together the potent combination of Twitter, augmented reality, and data hallucination.

Insurrections have never been so easy: just decide in a few clicks where do you want to place your riot, pick up a rebellion hashtag and spread it all over the web. Your tweets will become the squatter demonstrators in the augmented reality space of your campaign!

Are you ready to change the world?
Don’t miss the action: augment your reaction!

“What is invisible is essential to the eyes”
Gregory Cooper

RIOT: GET LOST IN TURIN
A tree falls in the center of Turin when no smart phone is around to experience it. Does it make a sound out there? Not so far, a voice: “Hello! hello? hello!? …” It’s Angela who’s obsessively speaking to its mobile phone while the vision of some large glossy avatar protesting in the public square appears in front of her. “That’s quite a nonsense” says Marco looking at that crazy Monument to the Banana Revolution from its smart phone screen. “This is not exactly what I was expecting from Augmented Reality!”
Beside them, standing in the middle of the street and staring at the invisible among the general curiosity of urban passers-by, Guy McMusker affirms: “Stop watching obsolete computer screens. It’s time to reshape reality. Internet is here and now. Reality is out there.”

AUGMENT YOUR POINTS OF VIEW
Commissioned by Piemonte SHARE Festival 2010, Reality Is Out There (RIOT) is the latest project from the internet art duo Les Liens Invisibles. First attempt of a series of imaginary interventions on urban landscape through the tactical use of Augmented Reality (AR) technologies, the project – started in Turin during, last November and is currently ongoing – it is a sort of collective hallucination: invisible to the eyes but visible through the viewer of a smart phone device.
The artists, well known for their online manipulations, have unleashed from the Internet a joyful and colorful array of materials (avatar icons, sculptures of glossy web interface elements, 3D models, illegal mp3 files, porno pictures…) by spreading them out and reassembling them to invent new interactions between the real and the virtual realm.

FIND YOURSELF IN REALITY
Get ready to subvert the use of the popular Layar augmented reality browser app into a sort of paradoxical psychogeographic tourism: public space will become a mere but indispensable medium through which new forms of info-hallucinations can be explored and experienced. Just take a walk around, make your own lonely trip, get lost in your augmented urban landscape, and don’t forget to take a picture. At last, you know: Reality is out there.

***********************************************

EXPERIENCE IT
Launch and experience yourself the imaginary interventions through your smart mobile device

“Today the enemy is not called Empire or Capital.
It’s called Democracy.”
* Alan Badiou

“Democracy is becoming more an empty ritual,
devoid of the ability to deliver true alternatives
and true choices.”
Franco Bifo Berardi

“A lie is the beginning of a new story.
That’s why we love Art.”
Oscar Wilde

ONE MAN ONE VOTE?

NO MORE. ONE CLICK IS ENOUGH.

Representational democracy is a thing of the past. Its days are numbered. Indeed, representation can no longer be said to be representative. It’s time for change. Leave behind your out-moded street activism, public demonstrations, megaphones. Protest is no longer to be found on the streets.

Instead get involved in the new global networked euphoria, take your data-body to its limits and discover how activism can be now carried out comfortably from your armchair.

EMBRACE THE NEW ERA OF ARMCHAIR-ACTIVISM.

A MILLION PEOPLE CAN’T BE WRONG.

In the post-idealist era the success of a campaign is increasingly reliant on instantaneous statistical surveys promoted to shift opinion towards defined positions.

Created by the imaginary art group Les Liens Invisibles – already known for others internet spoofs like Subvertr.com, A Fake is A Fake and Seppukoo.com – Repetitionr.com is the ultimate social petition platform that grants the success of every campaign proposed, offering the most advanced internet technologies to make participatory democracy a truely user-centered experience. Just a click and Repetitionr will fill your petitions with millions of self-generated fake signatures indistinguishable from the real ones.

TIRED OF WORDS?

JUST PUT REPETITIONR INTO ACTION.

Repetitionr needs just a few clicks to demonstrate its magic: just create your petition by writing down the title and statement, choose the number of signatures you want and from which countries they come from, then simply sit down and enjoy the the power of data hallucination working on your behalf. Don’t be afraid to exaggerate: Repetitionr will produce up to 1,000,000 signatures!

You are no longer alone in your opinions. Make a Re-Petition and announce to the world that thousands and thousands of people can’t be wrong!
